Bonjour!
I’d like to share my experience at La Maison Rose in Paris, which we visited when my wife and I went to see the Sacré-Cœur Basilica.
This café is well-known as a picturesque Instagram landmark and was featured in Season 1, Episode 5 of Emily in Paris.
This spot appeared in the scene where Emily confides in Mindy about her Instagram post problem with her boss, Sylvie.
🍽️ From Starters to Desserts – Every Bite Was Pure Delight
La Maison Rose is a restaurant where you can truly feel the passion behind every dish, but what impressed us most were desserts.
Here’s what my wife and I ordered during our visit.
🥂 Drink
・Italian Lemonade
・La Maison Rose Signature cola(Caramel, Ginger, Spices, Lemon)
Both drinks were homemade, with a pleasant balance of sweetness and freshness that made for a perfect start to our meal.
🥚 Starter
- Boiled egg dish
- Stewed cherry tomato dish
(Unfortunately, these two dishes are not listed on the current official website menu. It’s possible that the menu changes depending on the season.)
Both appetizers had a gentle, natural flavor that brought out the best of the ingredients and made us look forward to the main course even more.

🍛 Main
- Salad of red rice from Camargue with roasted and raw seasonal vegetables, cranberries, feta cheese, herbs, and a spinach–mint pesto (vegan option available)
- Slow-cooked veal breast with parsley butter and white wine, served with mogette bean cream and roasted potatoes
Both dishes looked like works of art — the moment they arrived, we couldn’t help but exclaim, “Wow!”
The red rice salad featured plump, nutty grains from the Camargue region in southern France, paired with the natural sweetness and aroma of roasted and raw seasonal vegetables. The gentle saltiness of the feta, the light tartness of the cranberries, and the refreshing blend of herbs with spinach–mint pesto all came together in perfect harmony — like a cool breeze across the palate. Its colorful presentation made it almost too beautiful to eat.
The veal breast, slow-cooked in white wine and parsley butter, was incredibly tender — it practically melted the moment the knife touched it. The creamy mogette beans from the Vendée region added a mild sweetness and velvety texture that complemented the rich flavor of the meat. The roasted potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, adding a delightful contrast that tied the whole dish together.

🍰 Dessert
- Carrot cake with walnuts, raisins, and rosemary, topped with cream cheese icing
- Pavlova with seasonal fruits, pistachios, and Chantilly cream
Now, the part I was most looking forward to at La Maison Rose — the desserts!
The first was the carrot cake, ordered by my wife. The moment we took a bite, the moist sweetness of the cake and the gentle aroma of spices spread beautifully across the palate. The toasted walnuts added a lovely crunch, the natural sweetness of the raisins blended in perfectly, and a hint of rosemary brought a refreshing finish. Slightly crisp on the outside and tender inside, it was a simple yet elegant dessert — just like La Maison Rose itself, warm, comforting, and full of charm.
The pavlova, a meringue-based dessert said to have originated in New Zealand and Australia, featured a crisp, airy shell topped with rich whipped cream, fresh berries, and a tangy berry sauce. It was exactly the dessert I had been dreaming of trying — and I finally got to enjoy it here at La Maison Rose. Sweet yet refreshing, it was the perfect finale to our meal.
It was so delicious that I ended up ordering pavlova again at Le Temps Des Cerises for our last dinner in France! Even after returning to Japan, I couldn’t forget that taste and tried making it myself — though my meringue didn’t quite rise as beautifully (next time, I’ll get it right!).

A cozy Atmosphere and Heartwarming Hospitality
The exterior of La Maison Rose is painted in a soft pastel pink, giving off an incredibly stylish and charming vibe. The contrast with the green window frames makes it the perfect “Instagrammable” spot — truly a picture-perfect building.
Inside, the space is small and intimate, with waiters who cheerfully strike up friendly conversation, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at home.
By coincidence, one of the waiters told us he had actually been to Japan before! We ended up having a great chat about the places in Japan he’d love to visit next. Interestingly, he wasn’t the only one — during our time in France, we met quite a few people who had either visited Japan or dreamed of going there someday.
Unforgettable moments
With its storybook-like atmosphere, La Maison Rose is more than just a stylish tourist spot — it’s a hidden gem that perfectly blends flavor, ambiance, and charm.
The desserts, in particular, were exceptional. Even after finishing, I couldn’t help but think, “Next time, I want to try another one!” — that’s how memorable the experience was.
If you’re planning a walk through Montmartre, make sure to include La Maison Rose in your itinerary.
Beyond its iconic pink walls, a sweet and elegant moment is waiting for you.
Au revoir!
