Bonjour!
About a month ago, my wife and I got to experience the Disney Royal Encounter at Disneyland Paris. It’s a special treat just for guests staying at the Disneyland Hotel, where you can actually meet Disney princesses up close. Since it was such a special experience, I’d love to share a little report about it!
Reservations open 7 days in advance at 11:00!
Actually, we already knew about this program before our trip, and my wife and I said, “We definitely want to do this!”
However, when we checked the app, we couldn’t figure out how to make a reservation.
While browsing the website, I found out that reservations could be made through the official app starting seven days before our stay. I had planned to check the app at that point, but our trip to France was so hectic that I totally forgot to do it. Then, after arriving at Disneyland, we suddenly remembered the Encounter and hurried to make a reservation.
Fortunately, there were still some slots left, but perhaps because most guests want to take advantage of Extra Magic Hours, the early morning reservations tend to fill up quickly.
In general, reservations for the Royal Encounter start seven days before your hotel stay, at 11:00 a.m. Paris time, via the official Disneyland Paris app. I managed to secure an 8:30 a.m. slot. (Interestingly, my wife and I were the only adults without kids in our group — everyone else had little ones in tow.) We considered whether to prioritize Extra Magic Hours or the encounter, but in the end, we couldn’t pass up the once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet a Disney Princess face-to-face.
Our princess of the day was… Cinderella!
When the big moment arrived, we were delighted to find out that Cinderella was our princess! She had even appeared the day before in the Mickey and the Magician show, so my wife’s excitement skyrocketed.
The princess spoke warmly and at length to my wife, but since my wife doesn’t really speak English, she could only smile and nod throughout the conversation. Still, just being there and sharing that magical atmosphere made her look so happy. At the end, we got to take a set of photos together (seven shots in total), which truly capped off the encounter in the best way possible.

The hidden catch of PhotoPass?
After the session, we were handed a PhotoPass card. Later at the hotel, we checked the website and discovered — the photo downloads weren’t free! The Royal Encounter itself is included as a complimentary perk for hotel guests, but the photos are offered through the paid PhotoPass service.
Since we hadn’t taken other photos with PhotoPass during our trip, we checked the prices for individual downloads:
(Note: Prices may change)
- Single photo download: €17
- All photos download: €85
By that point, we had already spent so much money on the trip (honestly, enough to buy a pricy car!), so we decided to just purchase the single best shot. In the end, that one photo became the most precious memory of our journey, so we were more than satisfied.
That said, it’s worth noting that while walking around the Disneyland Hotel, you often see princesses casually strolling around. You can sometimes chat or take pictures with them there, so depending on your expectations, that alone might be enough.

Final thoughts: A magical moment with your dream princess
The Royal Encounter is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that lets you step out of the ordinary. You never know which princess you’ll meet until the day itself, but whoever it is, you’ll get to talk, take photos, and walk away with unforgettable memories.
It honestly felt far too luxurious to be just a hotel guest perk. If you’re staying at the Disneyland Hotel in Paris, I wholeheartedly recommend trying it.
Au revoir!
